It is my pleasure today to be taking part in the blog tour for Broadland. My review is written with thanks to Sarah Hardy at Book On The Bright Side for inviting me on the tour and for my copy of the book.

Review:

 

I love starting a new series and being introduced to a new cast of characters, and Broadland was no exception  In fact, I quickly grew to enjoy spending time in the company of Detective Inspector (DI) Tanner and his team. I found it quite different to other police procedurals out there, particularly as Tanner, although experienced, is new to the area and beginning a new job. Blake refers to his history, but doesn’t really expand on it, so I’m looking forward to seeing where this goes. I loved his relationship with Jenny and I’d also love to see this develop further.

The setting of Broadland – the Norfolk Broads – is also important as it provides the atmosphere that gives the novel its underlying creepiness. The local knowledge of the officers also helps to build the scenes into which I was so easily drawn.

Once again, I must write that parts of Broadland are not for the faint hearted. The crimes in the novel are quite unusual but nevertheless horrific. However, the tension.rose as Blake and his team came closer to finding answers, and I wanted to get to the bottom of it as much as they did! I could not stop reading!
