Today I’m delighted to be sharing my review of The Perfect Betrayal. It’s written with thanks to Emma Welton of damppebbles Blog Tours for inviting me on the tour and for my copy of the book.

Review:

If I didn’t know The Perfect Betrayal was a debut novel, I wouldn’t believe you if you told me. It’s the perfect psychological thriller. There is a creeping sense of unease that builds up throughout the novel uncovering lies and leaving several questions to be answered. It’s a very difficult book to put down.

The novel is structured around Jamie’s birthday, and we gradually work our way towards this event. We also read extracts from interviews in which Tess has taken part, and written statements from two other main characters, Shelley and Ian. Although these give hints as to what has happened, it’s not immediately clear and this allows tension to build spectacularly.

The Perfect Betrayal ends with an astonishing twist that actually left me feeling quite emotional. This novel will stay with me for a long time.
