Review:

This is a great instalment in the series, which follows on directly from The Goodbye Man so I would recommend reading the series in order as there are some recurring characters and plot lines that are easier to follow in context. 

I have loved getting to know Colter Shaw over this series and finding out more about his background. I gained a greater understanding of his family in The Final Twist and this really adds depth to Shaw’s character. I enjoyed seeing how he was influenced by his father as he frequently repeats the advice his father gave him as he attempts to solve the case. It was interesting to see how Shaw worked alongside his brother, Russell and I enjoyed the dynamic between them despite their differences.

Deaver’s writing is very descriptive and it was very easy for me to visualise what was happening almost as if a film was playing in my mind. This kept me engaged from beginning to end. 

The Final Twist is expertly plotted as Deaver brings together several lines of enquiry. He leads us down several garden paths and as you may expect from the title, there are lots of twists along the way. The chapters are relatively short and although it did take some time for the pace to pick up, it does become a fast paced, thrilling ride as we search for answers
