Richard Osman: The Last Devil To Die

Blurb:

An old friend in the antiques business has been killed, and a dangerous package he was protecting has gone missing.

As the gang springs into action they encounter art forgers, online fraudsters and drug dealers, as well as heartache close to home.

With the body count rising, the package still missing and trouble firmly on their tail, has their luck finally run out? And who will be the last devil to die?

Review:

I have been eagerly anticipating The Last Devil To Die since I finished The Bullet That Missed around this time last year, and I was absolutely not disappointed. It was a joy to be back with Joyce, Elizabeth, Ibrahim and Ron, and I feel that with this novel, more than ever, the reader had the opportunity to get to know them much better, as some characters were given slightly different roles and allowed to come out of their shell a little more. The supporting characters also remain wonderful, and even the villains are brilliantly created. I particularly enjoyed learning more about Stephen and his heartbreaking situation is handled with the utmost care and sensitivity.

Richard Osman, the writer, is very much like Richard Osman, the television personality, and I could hear his voice jumping off the page. I love the humour in his writing, where he makes observations that are incredibly relatable and this makes me fall in love with the characters even more.

But The Last Devil To Die is not just about the characters: I loved the plot too. It centres around quite a complex investigation, which kept me guessing and engaged the whole way through.

Richard Osman states in his acknowledgements that The Thursday Murder Club are taking a break for a while. They definitely deserve it, but they will be missed!

The Last Devil To Die is available from Amazon.
