I’m delighted to be part of the Team Scilly Project, where I’ll be reviewing all the books in The Isles Of Scilly Mysteries series over the next few months. My review of Pulpit Rock is written with thanks to Tracy Fenton for inviting me to be part of Team Scilly and to Simon & Schuster for my copy of the book.

Review:
The title of the fourth instalment of the Ben Kitto series, Pulpit Rock, has intrigued me ever since I signed up to this project and I was really excited to find out more. Pulpit Rock is a landmark on the island of St Mary’s and its prominent role in the novel of the same name highlights Kate Rhodes’ wonderful use of location and the vivid descriptions which take the reader to the Isles Of Scilly in a way that appears effortless.
Once again, we are introduced to a small cast of characters who are either residents of or visitors to St Mary’s. As always with this series, they all have interesting back stories which give us reasons to suspect them all at various points throughout the story. As the location is so remote and close knit, DI Ben Kitto often has responsibility for speaking to suspects he may have known since childhood, this demonstrating his determination to reach the truth, something I always admire in my fictional detectives.
Pulpit Rock is very fast paced and I was fully invested in the story from beginning to end. I felt that there were more layers to the novel than previous instalments and this made it really interesting to try and guess who had done what and why. I was wrong the whole time and I loved the twists and turns that were revealed in the search for answers.
I’m looking forward to continuing the series very soon.
Pulpit Rock is available from Amazon.
