Today I’m taking part in the blog tour for Santa’s Early Christmas. My review is written with help from my nephew, Joe, who is 4, with thanks to Rachel Gilbey at Rachel’s Random Resources for inviting me on the tour and to the author for our copy of the book.
Blurb:
Last year Santa was hungry and thirsty by the time he delivered all the presents. But when he came home there was no food and drink left! This year Santa decides things are going to be different.
Review:
I read Santa’s Early Christmas with Joe, who is 4. He loves Christmas so this was the perfect book for him and we used it as an opportunity to discuss the different traditions and the foods we might eat nearer the time.
I love that Lily Lawson has written the story in rhyme, as this makes it easier for Joe to read along with me as he completes the end of each line. It keeps him much more engaged in the story than he would be if it was simply read to him.
As always with Lily Lawson’s books, Joe spent a lot of time looking at the illustrations. They are absolutely wonderful and they really add to his understanding of the story.
Joe said “I enjoyed this book. I thought the story was funny and I liked looking at the pictures.”
I’m sure Joe will be reading Santa’s Early Christmas again as the festive period gets nearer!
Santa’s Early Christmas is available from Amazon.
