Review:
I’m not really sure why The Serial Killer’s Wife has been on my TBR for so long. I’ve read books by Alice Hunter before, under her other name, and loved them and this was no different. I’m glad the new TV series gave me the nudge I needed to finally read it. It’s right up my street, it’s fast paced, I couldn’t trust anyone and there are so many twists.
The Serial Killer’s Wife has very short chapters, which are each narrated by a different character. This means we get to know the characters and we start to see the cracks in the façades that they present to the world. The story is intriguing and I really wanted to find out what secrets they were hiding. As always with first person narrators, there’s a chance they may not be telling the truth and I was very wary of all the characters.
Alice Hunter has plotted The Serial Killer’s Wife really carefully, and she ensures that each reveal happens at just the right time for maximum impact. I will admit that I did guess some of the twists, but there were others that left me really surprised. I’ll be thinking about the ending for a while!
I know that there are further novels in the Serial Killer series and I am interested to see what Alice Hunter does next!
The Serial Killer’s Wife is available from Amazon.
