#MusicMonday #10 – Can’t you see this is how heartaches are made?

Welcome back to another #MusicMonday! It’s not about books, but about music, and I’m looking forward to presenting you with a taste of my playlist. It’s the brainchild of Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek, but my inspiration comes from the lovely Claire from A Knight’s Reads. Every Monday, I’ll be choosing a song to share with you. The Spotify playlist is here and it will be updated as I go along.

When I first started #MusicMonday in April, I had a request for a song by this band. I’d never heard of them before, so I gave them a listen. They sound completely different to what I was expecting (as the person who suggested this song is the person who introduced me to The Strokes, and they sound nothing alike) but I do very much enjoy them.

The Delines: Eddie & Polly

The Delines: Eddie & Polly

Eddie and Polly blow into town

Desperately in love

Desperate and in love

Eddie and Polly go on a spree

Hit every club around paint themselves into the ground

Can’t you see chipping is how the habit is made

Can’t you see it’s how the morning drink takes hold

Eddie and Polly start to fight

Like everyone else when their money gets tight

New Orleans ain’t no place to be broke

But they’re too young to understand

There ain’t no good place to be broke

Can’t you see this is how teardrops are made

Can’t you see this is how tears become stains

And the party never stops so the pressure starts

Eddie and Polly break up

Cause Polly don’t come home

She swears she fell asleep alone

But Eddie he knows cause she can’t sit still

He busts his hand across her face

She leaves but only for a day

Can’t you see this is how heartaches are made

Can’t you see this is how the hurt become maimed

Can’t you see this is how you make scars

Can’t you see this how you turn the night into dark

And the party never stops so the pressure starts.
