Mark Eklid: The 23 Day Girlfriend

This review is written with thanks to the author for my copy of The 23 Day Girlfriend.

Blurb:

Lonely heart Barry thought Gina might be too good to be true.

He was right.

Gina preys on vulnerable older men through online dating sites. She lures them in, uses them to set up a financial scam and then vanishes without trace.

But when an angry victim of her fraudulent scheme comes looking for Gina, Barry is drawn into deadly danger. He faces having to kill – or be killed.

Review:

I had no idea what to expect when I started to read The 23 Day Girlfriend but this absolutely wasn’t it! It’s fast paced and full of humour but also full of tension and I love how Mark Eklid has effortlessly combined the two to write a novel that’s part crime, part romance and part comedy. It’s completely different from anything I have ever read before.

The protagonist of The 23 Day Girlfriend is Barry, and the story is narrated by him. His sense of humour immediately endeared me to him. I loved his unusual partnership with Gina and enjoyed the way they bounced off each other. I was completely invested in their story and I was desperate to know how it would end.

The plotting in The 23 Day Girlfriend is simply wonderful. There are definitely elements of it that are absolutely bonkers and I had to suspend my belief on occasion but it nevertheless kept me totally gripped until the very end.

The 23 Day Girlfriend is available from Amazon.
