Review:
Wolf Pack has been on my TBR since it was first released, and I’m, quite frankly, ashamed that it took me so long to read it. I love Tuva Moodyson, in whom Will Dean has created such a strongly developed character and it was great to catch up with her again. She’s intelligent and determined, and doesn’t take any rubbish from anyone, but she’s kind and compassionate and there is a lot of vulnerability in her character, which is heightened by the personal situation in which she finds herself in this novel.
The novel is set in a small community in Sweden, and although I have no real life experience of what it is like to live there, Will Dean’s writing takes me there immediately. His descriptions of the surroundings are so clear and detailed, but more than that, I love the sense of community he creates, especially through their reaction to outsiders, that gives Wolf Pack a sense of foreboding the whole way through.
In Wolf Pack, Tuva becomes involved in a murder case, and I found the plot really intriguing. In such a small community, there is a finite number of suspects, and I loved finding out more about the characters who made up the Kommun. Will Dean has also created these characters perfectly and they all have fascinating back stories that are explored in detail. The plot doesn’t move particularly quickly, but towards the end of the novel, the tension escalates and I could really feel the sense of danger between the pages.
I can’t wait to continue my journey with Tuva and hopefully will not wait as long next time!
Wolf Pack is available from Amazon.
