Jessica Huntley: Horrible Husbands

Blurb:

Is your husband so horrible that you’d ask your best friend to kill him?

Penny: I know my husband has cheated on me. But I can’t believe what I just found in the bedside drawer. Are my children safe . . . ?

Lisa: The first time he did it was on our wedding anniversary. He broke down in tears afterwards. That’s the thing about Simon. He’s always sorry . . . until the next time.

Holly: My husband is useless. He just loafs around the house all day and spends my money. But now I think he’s done something far worse.

We’ve descended on Penny’s stunning country home for a rare girls’ weekend.

As the cocktails flow, it turns out we’re all keeping secrets. Bloody hell, we sure can pick them.

We clink our glasses. “Here’s to our horrible husbands. May they get what’s coming to them.”

Good friends will die for you. But only best friends will kill for you.

Review:

I have heard so many brilliant things about Horrible Husbands and every single comment is justified! After quite a slow start to my reading year, I feel like it can now begin in earnest. Jessica Huntley knows exactly how to pull her readers in, and more importantly, keep them hooked, and I really found it difficult to tear myself away from this one!

The protagonists of Horrible Husbands are Penny, Lisa and Holly. I love everything about their friendship from the way they always have each others’ back to the WhatsApp group conversations that give away just a little too much information! Jessica Huntley does a brilliant job of conveying their closeness, even though they no longer see each other very often and I found myself really rooting for them, even though their plans do seem a little crazy in the beginning.

These ladies have managed to choose three of the most abominable men for husbands, and again, Jessica Huntley leaves us in no doubt about how we should feel about them. They all really made me skin crawl. She explores their crimes in depth, but she also handles them with great sensitivity, although it should be said that it is not easy reading and some readers will find some scenes uncomfortable or upsetting.

Despite loving every second of this novel, I had no idea where it was going and I loved being taken by surprise. It kept me guessing right until the ending, and the epilogue gave Horrible Husbands a really intriguing ending.

Horrible Husbands is available from Amazon.
