Review:
The Guilty Couple is absolutely my favourite book of CL Taylor’s that I have read so far. The premise is really intriguing, and as soon as Olivia’s situation was laid out, I was desperate to know the truth. CL Taylor’s writing is impressive – it hooked me the whole way through.
There are so many characters involved in this story, and it really helps to see the narrative from different sides. The majority of the chapters are written from the perspectives of Olivia, Dominic and Dani, and this helps to weave the tangled web of lies throughout the novel, but particularly towards the end. CL Taylor has built all the characters brilliantly: they all have complex reasons for behaving in the way that they do and this meant it was impossible to know who to trust at times.
The plot is complex and I loved all the different strands to it. I love a novel with fabulous twists and turns and The Guilty Couple has them in spades. The ending is especially fraught with tension and I was on the edge of my seat to see how everything would play out.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading more by this author!
