Today I’m joining the blog tour for The Serial Killer’s Party. My review is written with thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me on the tour and to the publisher for my copy of the book.
Blurb:
Welcome to the party of the year.
You’ve been invited to an exclusive, luxury event in Norway, hosted by a billionaire. Your moment has finally arrived. But you’re not going for the canapes and champagne. You’re going for revenge.
Where anything is possible.
You’ve spent months preparing for this moment. Because you know that beneath the host’s polished public persona, he’s a vicious killer who has murdered several innocent people, including your sister.
Even murder…
Then a guest dies in mysterious circumstances, and you begin to wonder… is this a trap? Why does it feel like you’re being watched? And will you ever escape?
Review:
I was intrigued to read The Serial Killer’s Party from the blurb, and straight away I knew it would be right up my street. There are so many secrets and everyone was hiding something and I loved the tension this created. I was taken into this story immediately, especially the atmosphere of the party and the world of the Fowley family, and I couldn’t wait to find out how it would end.
The Serial Killer’s Party is narrated by Amelia. It becomes clear quite quickly that she had a colourful past and that she herself is living a lie, and this aspect of her character is really well developed so that the reader can become invested in her journey. Despite her unreliability, I actually grew to like Amelia and was rooting for her to find some answers. This is in contrast to the Fowley family, most of whom are highly dislikeable, and I wanted all their family secrets to come out.
The denouement of the novel is particularly tense, and I loved how everything escalated so quickly. There were some revelations that I wasn’t expecting, and some that made me feel quite emotional and I loved how immersed I was in this novel.
I will definitely be looking out for more by this author!
The Serial Killer’s Party is available from Amazon.
