Today I’m back with the Chris Carter blogathon. My review of I Am Death is written with thanks to Tracy Fenton for inviting me on the blogathon.
Blurb:
Seven days after being abducted, the body of a twenty-year-old woman is found on a green patch of grass by the Los Angeles International Airport. She has been left with her limbs stretched out and spread apart, placing her in a five-point human star.
The autopsy reveals that she had been murdered in a most terrible way. But the surprises don’t end there.
Detective Robert Hunter, who leads LAPD’s Special Section, Ultra Violent Unit, is assigned the case. But almost immediately a second body turns up. Hunter knows he has to be quick.
Surrounded by new challenges as every day passes, Detective Hunter finds himself chasing a monster. A predator whose past hides a terrible secret, whose desire to hurt people and thirst for murder can never be quenched – for he is DEATH.
Review:
I absolutely love this series and I’m delighted to be back with the blogathon. I Am Death is another brilliant addition to the series which has everything I’ve come to expect from Chris Carter. After working separately in the previous novel, Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia are working together again and I loved being able to see their chemistry straight away.
As always, Chris Carter’s writing is not for the faint hearted, but for me, the graphic descriptions allow me to fully get to grips with what is happening and really feel sympathy for the victims. I appreciate how Chris Carter looks into the background of each victim, as it highlights their humanity and the horrific nature of the perpetrator’s crimes.
Once again, Chris Carter’s plotting is excellent. I did think I had guessed the ending at one point, but the story went in a completely different direction to what I expected and I loved it! The ending, in particular, was incredibly tense and I was turning the pages really fast!
I Am Death is available from Amazon.
