I’m delighted to be joining the blogathon for the new editions of Jack Jordan’s books! My review of Anything For Her is written with thanks to Tracy Fenton for inviting me on the tour and to the publisher for my copy of the book.
Blurb:
Sometimes the past comes back to haunt you. Louise Leighton’s life has fallen apart, all because of one fateful night. Her husband is an adulterer, her sister is his mistress, and soon, Louise will lose everything she owns. But she never imagined she would lose her daughter. Eighteen-year-old Brooke Leighton is missing. It’s up to Louise and the Metropolitan Police to find her. Has Brooke run away? Or has she been taken against her will? And can Louise aid the investigation without mentioning the night where all of her troubles began? If she mentions that night, she will incriminate her daughter for heinous crimes. But if she doesn’t, she may never find Brooke; and if she has been abducted, the person who took her may come for Louise, too. Sometimes the past comes back to kill you.
Review:
Anything For Her is Jack Jordan’s debut novel, and having enjoyed some of his more recent work, I was looking forward to seeing where it all began. It’s a little shorter than his other work, so the plot is perhaps less detailed than I was expecting; however I enjoyed the fast pace and I found the novel very easy to read.
The opening line of Anything For Her is one that really grabbed my interest and I knew I would be in for an exciting ride. There is so much going on in this family and I really wanted to know what was behind it all. I really enjoyed the flashback scenes and I loved trying to piece it all together.
None of the characters in Anything For Her are particularly likeable, but this didn’t matter to me as I still enjoyed following their story. They all had traits that I wanted to explore further and I was intrigued to see how everything would work out for them.
Jack Jordan is a talented writer, and Anything For Her is full of tension. There are some moments that were reminiscent of a horror novel, and I loved how unsettled these made me feel.
I’m looking forward to reading the rest of Jack Jordan’s work as part of the blogathon!
