Welcome back to another #MusicMonday! It’s not about books, but about music, and I’m looking forward to presenting you with a taste of my playlist. It’s the brainchild of Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek, but my inspiration comes from the lovely Claire from A Knight’s Reads. Every Monday, I’ll be choosing a song to share with you. The Spotify playlist is here and it will be updated as I go along.
So to paraphrase Noddy Holder, IIITTT’S (nearly) CHRISTTTMMMMAAAAAASS! So I wanted to share a Christmas song for #MusicMonday, but it’s taken me ages to decide which one, as a lot of the older ones have aged quite badly and aren’t really doing it for me this year. I’ve chosen one that I heard for the first time recently that I really liked.
The Staves: Home Alone Too
Well, it rained again this Christmas, seems to happen every year
And it only snows on TV
And I saw you in your photographs, seems you’re having so much fun
And it’s okay, you don’t belong to me
And how I hate this time of year
It’s dark and it’s cold
And I feel I’m getting older
And I wonder
Are you watching Home Alone, too?
Are you watching Home Alone 2, too?
I’m dreaming of you
And I don’t know what to do
Well, I saw you last Christmas Eve when I ruined everything
How strange, lovers to friends
And I heard you on the radio and you played our favorite song
And it’s okay, I know how it ends
And I hate this time of year
It’s dark and it’s shit
And I feel I’m getting over it
Still I wonder
Are you watching Home Alone, too?
Are you watching Home Alone, too?
‘Cause I’m dreaming of you
I will change, I promise to be better
So much better than before
I will be good
And I’ll change when I want to
Are you watching Home Alone, too?
