Chris Carter: Written In Blood

Today I’m back on the Chris Carter blogathon with the eleventh book in the Robert Hunter series, Written In Blood. My review is written with thanks to Tracy Fenton for inviting me to take part.

Blurb:

A serial killer who will stop at nothing…

The Killer
His most valuable possession has been stolen.
Now he must retrieve it, at any cost.

The Girl
Angela Wood wanted to teach the man a lesson. It was a bag, just like any other.
But when she opens it, the worst nightmare of her life begins.

The Detective
A journal ends up on Robert Hunter’s desk. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose.
And if Hunter can’t stop him in time, more people will die.
Starting with Angela.

If you have read it
You must die

Review:

I can’t believe we’re at book eleven on the blogathon – I have enjoyed every minute of it. Chris Carter’s ideas never shy away from violence but they are always unique and this makes me all the more intrigued to see how it turns out.

It’s been a pleasure to get to know Detectives Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia over the series and their team work in Written In Blood is, as ever, second to none. It’s unusual that the detectives get close to members of the public, but I found Hunter’s relationship with Angela to be really heartwarming. Angela is a fascinating character and I really hoped it would work out for her. There is definitely scope to meet her in a future story and I hope that this materialises.

Written In Blood is a masterclass in writing a cat and mouse chase. We meet the killer very early on in the novel and there’s never any doubt as to who it is, but Chris Carter takes us on a breathtaking journey to find him. As the investigation ramps up, the tension is unbelievable and I was on tenterhooks waiting to found out how the chase would end. It definitely feels at times as though Hunter has met his match!

I can’t wait to continue reading this series.

Written In Blood is available from Amazon.
