Alex Michaelides: The Silent Patient

Today I’m delighted to be sharing my review of The Silent Patient. It’s written with thanks to Amber at Midas PR for inviting me on the tour and for my copy of the book.

Blurb:

ALICIA
Alicia Berenson writes a diary as a release, an outlet – and to prove to her beloved husband that everything is fine. She can’t bear the thought of worrying Gabriel, or causing him pain.

Until, late one evening, Alicia shoots Gabriel five times and then never speaks another word.

THEO
Forensic psychotherapist Theo Faber is convinced he can successfully treat Alicia, where all others have failed. Obsessed with investigating her crime, his discoveries suggest Alicia’s silence goes far deeper than he first thought.

And if she speaks, would he want to hear the truth?

THE SILENT PATIENT is the gripping must-read debut thriller of 2019 – perfect for fans of THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW by A.J. Finn and THE GIRL BEFORE by JP Delaney.

Review:

I have heard so much about The Silent Patient that I jumped at the chance to read it and I honestly have no idea where to begin with this review. I found The Silent Patient started quite slowly and I wasn’t sure where it was going but somehow I was compelled to keep reading and I was hooked for every second!

The Silent Patient is narrated mostly by Theo although there are also snippets from Alicia’s diary. This makes the novel interesting to read as we are able to see events from different points of view, but it is clear that both Theo and Alicia have issues that might cause them to be slightly unreliable. I was intrigued trying to work out who was telling the truth.

The ending of The Silent Patient is something else! I don’t want to say anything else in case I give away spoilers except that my head is totally broken and I will have this book in my head for quite a while yet!

The Silent Patient is available from Amazon.
