Blurb:

All that glitters…

People would kill to have Faye Adelheim’s life. She lives in an ultra-swanky apartment in the most exclusive area of Stockholm, she has a gorgeous husband who gives her everything she’s ever wanted, and she has an adorable daughter who lights up her world. Faye’s life is perfect.

So how is it, then, that she now finds herself in a police station?

The truth is that Faye’s life is far from what it seems. The truth is that Faye isn’t even her real name. And now she’s been caught out. There’s no way she’s going to go down without a fight. The only question is – who will escape with their life?

A gripping new thriller that will keep you hooked from the first page to the last!

Review:

The Gilded Cage is the first novel I have read by Camilla Lackberg, but I understand she has written a whole series before this, so it certainly won’t be the last! Her writing style is very hard hitting, but despite the fact that it’s sometimes gruesome and often sexually explicit, I found myself wanting to read more and more.

Faye has a very dark past and Lackberg often takes the reader back in time so that we get a glimpse of what happened to her and her family. As a result, I couldn’t help but feel sympathetic for Faye and root for her, despite her actions over the course of the novel. Alongside Faye, there are several characters in the novel who are the kind I loved to hate, and it shows the skill in Lackberg’s writing that she is able to evoke this reaction in me. The characters are brilliantly created and I was intrigued by their individual stories.

It is clear from the beginning of The Gilded Cage that the novel is brilliantly plotted. It is so clever and I loved trying to put all the pieces together. There are so many questions and twists in the novel which make it full of surprises until the very end!

The Gilded Cage is available from Amazon.
