Zoé-Lee O’Farrell: Ouija

Today I am absolutely delighted to be taking part in the blog tour for Ouija. My review is written with thanks to Zoe O’Farrell for inviting me on the tour and for my copy of the book.

Blurb:

The only thing for certain is the deaths were no accident.

Rayner High School once a prestigious school stands in ruins after such a terrible event.

A year later, a group of friends return to the abandoned school and their nightmare begins.

Something wants to get out and won’t take NO for an answer…

Ouija is Book 2 in a new series brought to you by Question Mark Horror. For fans of Point Horror, Christopher Pike & Nicholas Pine.

Review:

I’d like to say from the outset I don’t read a lot of horror/young adult books but if they are all as good as Ouija I’ll have to change my reading habits! From the first page, I was drawn into the lives of these characters and I did not want to stop reading.

It is hard to believe that this is the author’s debut novel. Ouija is perfectly paced and it’s extremely creepy. I don’t want to give away spoilers but I’m slightly worried about my morning shower tomorrow and I will never, ever sleep in a room with dolls in it! I was on edge the whole time I was reading and I was so intrigued by what was happening.

It is a long time since I was the same ages as the characters in Ouija but O’Farrell captures them brilliantly. I loved the relationships between them as they are really authentic. We also get a glimpse into the issues that affect their daily lives and this includes issues that both young people and adults can relate to. There are some very poignant moments in the novel which are handled with lots of care.

I can’t wait to see what this author does next!

Ouija is available from Amazon.
