Debbie Ioanna: One Book Away

Today I’m taking part in the blog tour for One Book Away. My review is written with thanks to Zoe O’Farrell for inviting me on the tour and to the author for my copy of the book.

Blurb:

She’s just a girl, standing in front of a bookcase, looking for her happily every after…

Charlotte’s love of romantic literature and ‘happily ever after’ is a far cry from reality. Putting her own ambitions to one side and settling with her university sweetheart, it has not been a decade of bliss. Changes need to be made, and quick.

At a book signing for her favourite author, she meets the handsome and chivalrous Ross. He immediately charms her and wants to see her again. Could this be the romantic, happy ending she was looking for?

Debbie brings us her latest romantic comedy where dating and new romances warm our hearts… and give us a little bit of dating fear.

Review:

One Book Away is a quick, lighthearted read that really made me feel good on a snowy afternoon. Charlotte is a character who was really easy for me to relate to being a book lover who is a little insecure about her appearance and it was lovely to see her grow in confidence as the story progressed. I also loved her best friend Hema and brother and brother in law who provided Charlotte with a really strong support network. These characters also have their own subplots which made me laugh and added emotion to the book.

Through One Book Away, Ioanna explores a number of interesting themes, such as multicultural relationships, adoption and self esteem. I do feel that the novel would have benefitted from being slightly longer so that these could have been looked at in more detail as I did find these issues interesting.

One Book Away is available from Amazon.
