Today it’s my turn on the blog tour for Blanket Of Blood. My review is written with thanks to Zoe O’Farrell and the team at SpellBound Books for inviting me on the blog tour and for my copy of the book.
Blurb:
The body of a baby is found in the woods
but all is not as it seems.
A twisted serial killer is targeting pregnant teenage girls.
DI Blood races against the clock to stop the most chilling murderer he’s ever hunted. His private life meanwhile threatens to distract him and derail his investigation.
Any mistakes, any hesitation on his side, could cost another innocent life …
Review:
I’ve never read anything by Eileen Wharton before but I was really impressed by her ability to write such a vivid story. Her descriptions are dark, but they take us to the places in Blanket Of Blood and they help to show the horror within the pages.
DI Gary Blood is an interesting protagonist and I love that the author included his personal relationships as part of the story, especially with Sue (who is also a police officer) and her daughter Rachel. This makes it much easier to relate to Blood and root for him and his team as they try to solve these horrific crimes. I would be interested to read more about him if Blanket Of Blood became the beginning of the series.
As the novel reaches its ending the tension is palpable and I was on the edge of my seat hoping the killer would be brought to justice. There are a few twists and turns along the way and I absolutely did not see the ending coming.
Blanket Of Blood is available from Amazon.
