Andrew Komarnyckyj: Blacktelligence Rules

Today I’m joining the blog tour for Blacktelligence Rules. My review is written with thanks to Zoe O’Farrell and the team at SpellBound Books for inviting me on the blog tour and for my copy of the book.

Blurb:

THE MOST THOUGHT-PROVOKING AND CONTROVERSIAL THRILLER YOU’LL READ THIS YEAR

When Adam Benedict, a 28-year-old researcher, comes across a startling discovery about race and intelligence, he sets in motion a deadly chain of events.

As he tries to get his results published, he finds his work is tampered with to make it appear riddled with errors. He is discredited and denounced as a fraud, a liar, and worse. He endures a storm of criticism in social media and is hounded by the press for spreading views that are deemed toxic.

It becomes clear there is a conspiracy against him, and the conspirators will use any means possible to silence him, up to and including murder.

As Benedict races against the clock to clear his name, he realises the truth is more likely to get him killed than set him free.

And he has to make a decision: is a truth that will change the way humanity views race worth laying his life on the line for?

Review:

Blacktelligence Rules is a novel with a really interesting concept, especially in the light of the prevalence of movements such as Black Lives Matter. From the outset, I was intrigued by the storyline and I wanted to see where it would go, even if at times I had to suspend my belief slightly.

Komarnyckyj has developed the characters in Blacktelligence Rules really well, particularly the protagonist, Adam Benedict. I felt a lot of sympathy for him in the situation in which he found himself and this helped me to root for him throughout the novel.

As Benedict himself is a researcher, so Komarnyckyj must have undertaken a lot of research to ensure that the methods used in the novel are watertight. I commend him for this as it helps to make the concept so intriguing.

The plotting in Blacktelligence Rules is really strong and I really enjoyed the unpredictable nature of the story. I had no idea what would happen and I was kept guessing until the end.

Blacktelligence Rules is available from Amazon.
