Sabine Durrant: Sun Damage

Blurb:

The perfect holiday. The perfect crime…
When Ali has the chance to stay at a beautiful house in the south of France, she jumps at it.
But not everything is as it seems.
Surrounded by a group of wealthy friends, Ali blends expertly into the background.
She’s watching them all.
And she isn’t the only one interested.
The heat rises. The pool shimmers. Secrets are exposed.
And Ali must face up to the biggest lie of all: herself.

Review:

I have heard good things about Sabine Durrant and Sun Damage so I was excited to get stuck in. I will admit that it took me a few chapters to get into it, but when the bombshells and secrets start coming, they don’t stop and I really wanted to see where the story would go. Sabine Durrant has a writing style that is easy to read and completely immersive. I read Sun Damage as a buddy read and it was difficult to stop reading at the agreed points!

Sabine Durrant has created a large, but interesting, group of characters for Sun Damage. They are not always likeable and most of them are hiding things from their families and the other people on holiday with them. This makes the story compelling, but I would have loved some of the issues to have been explored in a little more detail.

Throughout the novel, it is often difficult to see what will happen next and there are a series of twists and turns as we reach the ending which kept me engaged the whole way through, although I was able to guess a few of them. Nevertheless, I did enjoy Sun Damage and I’m looking forward to reading more by this author and exploring her back catalogue.

Sun Damage is available from Amazon.
