Today I’m pleased to be taking part in the blog tour for After Jessica. My review is written with thanks to Sarah Hardy at Book On The Bright Side for inviting me on the tour and for my copy of the book via the publisher.
Blurb:
Jessica is an ordinary girl who comes across extraordinary circumstances and pays for them with her life. As well as identifying her body, her brother Simon then has to wind up her affairs but gets more than he bargains for. Who is Alexis, and why are Veronica and Daniel searching for her? Why is there a roll of cash in Jessica’s house, and what’s the connection between his sister and Alexis?
Review:
After Jessica is a short, snappy read and with chapters never more than a few pages long, I found it very fast paced. However, the short length of the book does not mean that as readers we miss out on the emotions that are poured into this book as Jessica’s friends and family come to terms with her death. Bailey chooses her words carefully and each one had maximum impact.
There are two strands to the plot of After Jessica which run parallel to each other throughout the novel. There are lots of different characters, many of whom have their own chapters and I was intrigued by how everything would fit together, although at the beginning I was slightly confused trying to figure out who everyone was.
I love a novel with a twist and After Jessica has a few that kept me guessing until the end.
After Jessica is available from Amazon.
