#MusicMonday #126 – I see through all your antics

Welcome back to another #MusicMonday! It’s not about books, but about music, and I’m looking forward to presenting you with a taste of my playlist. It’s the brainchild of Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek, but my inspiration comes from the lovely Claire from A Knight’s Reads. Every Monday, I’ll be choosing a song to share with you. The Spotify playlist is here and it will be updated as I go along.

For today’s #MusicMonday, I’m sharing a track by a band who have appeared in my Spotify algorithm a lot recently, and I’ve really enjoyed listening to their repertoire. The track I’ve chosen is a tenuous nod to the start of the football season – although Google tells me the band are from Wigan, so I don’t think the Vicarage Road in the title is the one with which football fans will be familiar.

The Lilacs:. Vicarage Road

So you, you think you can dance
Well, I don’t think you’ve got a chance with me
Or him, down the road
By now, I think you should know
I think about you all the time
Although I know I probably shouldn’t
I see through all your antics
And all of your northern frantics
We used to listen to Smooth
While we were stuck on the 62
We were on our way back home
To Vicarage Road
What up?
What are you doing
When you’re staying after work
And you say you’re on your own?
So how, how does it feel?
Now you get the bus to work
‘Cause I am not around
Please try to understand
It was over way before you say, love
Though we both refuse to admit it
I see through all your antics
And all of your northern frantics
We used to listen to Smooth
While we were stuck on the 62
We were on our way back home
To Vicarage Road
What up?
What are you doing
When you’re staying after work
And you say you’re on your own?
What up?
What are you doing
When you say you’re staying late
And you can’t answer your phone?
What up?
What are you doing
When you’re staying after work
And you say you’re on your own?
What up?
What are you doing
When you say you’re staying late
And you can’t answer your phone?
Now I know what you’re doing
When you’re staying after work
‘Cause I know you’re not on your own
Why don’t you try to admit it?
