Welcome back to another #MusicMonday! It’s not about books, but about music, and I’m looking forward to presenting you with a taste of my playlist. It’s the brainchild of Drew from The Tattooed Book Geek, but my inspiration comes from the lovely Claire from A Knight’s Reads. Every Monday, I’ll be choosing a song to share with you. The Spotify playlist is here and it will be updated as I go along.
On Tuesday, I went to see Evanescence in Leeds. It was brilliant. Amy Lee has an absolutely phenomenal voice and I was blown away by it in person. I’ve chosen a track for today’s #MusicMonday that is from their most recent album, so I wasn’t previously familiar with it, but it’s one that has stuck with me over the last few days.
Evanescence: Forever Without You
Half my life
I’ve been running away from this source of light
This is the last tear fallen
This is the last open door
We always knew we were damned
I knew the moment you touched my hand
There was too much fire to hold
And no one else would understand
Burning out of control and screaming
‘Til we couldn’t breathe
Crawling into your soul was the only way to save me
But I
Lost my mind
Thought I’d fall forever without you
Turns out forever without you is good for me
Promised I’d save you
But I’m not God, I was fucked up too
And when your eyes turned black
I prayed you’d never come back
I know you wanted me to ask you to stay
That was the one thing I would never say
And though you left that night
You’re still here ’cause I’m still in the fight
To live or remember
Forgive and forget her
I lost my mind
Thought I’d fall forever without you
Turns out forever without you is good for me
But I still remember
Who we used to be
Thought I’d fall forever without you
Turns out forever without you is good for me
Turns out forever without you is what I need
Well I stood my ground
And there was only one way that would ever go down
But when you said goodbye
You didn’t know that I could fly
Well neither did I
